About

Based in Denver, Colorado, Zephyr Brass Collective is a professional brass quintet dedicated to expanding the brass quintet repertoire through new commissions, original arrangements, and collaborative projects.

Zephyr operates as a flexible collective, adapting its instrumentation, collaborators, and programming to the needs of each project. Their work centers on commissioning new music and creating arrangements of contemporary and popular repertoire, exploring a wide range of textures and genres.

Recent appearances include residencies at Colorado State University, and the University of Wyoming, where the ensemble presented programs highlighting new and emerging works for brass quintet.

Through long-term collaboration, commissioning, and performance, Zephyr Brass Collective is building a growing body of work that reflects the adaptability and expressive range of the modern brass quintet.

Testmonials:

The Zephyr Brass Collective has been a standout presence at Colorado State University’s Trumpet Day for the past two years. Individually, they are exceptionally talented brass performers; as a group, they have carved out a distinctive and compelling artistic voice. Their performances are engaging, imaginative, and thoughtfully crafted for a wide range of audiences, particularly young musicians. Their programming strikes an ideal balance between artistic integrity and accessibility, incorporating standard repertoire, newly commissioned works, and creative, effective transcriptions of popular music.

Beyond performance, Zephyr demonstrates a deep commitment to education and community engagement. Their collaborative clinic alongside the U.S. Air Force Academy Band’s “Stellar Brass” was especially impactful, offering students valuable insight into both artistic vision and the practical realities of building a professional ensemble.

What is most exciting is the group’s continued artistic growth, they are clearly establishing a top-level reputation, actively commissioning new works, and contributing meaningfully to the evolving landscape of professional brass quintets. The students at CSU’s Trumpet Day were deeply impressed. Zephyr Brass Collective is an ensemble on the rise, and I recommend them enthusiastically.
